Box Score 4 MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Webber International University volleyball competed in the Falkner Invitational over the weekend, playing four matches over two days. The Warriors took on Bethel University and hosts Faulkner University on Friday. Webber International returned to the court Saturday to face off against the University of Mobile and Brenau University.
Vs. BethelThe Warriors and the Royals battled Friday afternoon, with Bethel coming out on top, 3-0. Freshman
Lauren Dehls paced Webber International's attack with seven kills and an ace. Fellow newcomer
Sophie Rossard continued the strong start to her Webber International career adding 14 assists.
Vs. FaulknerWebber International and Faulkner closed out Friday's proceedings. The Warriors fought hard but eventually fell to the Eagles, 3-0. Sophomore libero
Michelle Calderon had a strong performace against Faulkner registering 10 digs and two aces. Freshman
Sam Burton led the team in kills with six.
Vs. (RV) MobileThe Warriors opened day two of the Faulkner Invitational against Mobile. Webber International held its own early on but lost the match, 3-0. Freshman
Jade Carline paced the Warrior offense with five kills. Rossard was strong on defense, finishing the match with nine digs.
Vs. BrenauWebber International closed the weekend against the Golden Tigers. In four hard fought sets, the Warriors came away victors, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 25-10, the first win of the season.
The first two sets were tightly contested with both teams taking one apiece. The battle continued in to the third set with Webber International taking a 2-1 lead and wrestling control of the match. The Warriors carried the momentum in to the decisive fourth set, slamming the door shut on the Golden Eagles and taking the match 3-1.
Rossard's great weekend culminated with her first career triple-double, finishing the match with 18 kills, 22 assists and 13 digs. The Warrior defense was strong against Brenau, registering 10 blocks and 63 digs. Dehls lead the way with 17 digs, followed closely by freshman
