Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University volleyball welcomed Southeastern, Tuesday, opening a three-match home stand. The Warriors kept it close with the Fire, but eventually fell, 3-0. Freshman Sophie Rossard played a strong match, notching 11 kills and 19 assists, both team highs.
The Warriors jumped out to a, 6-2, lead early in the first set, thank to kills from Kaley Cox, Rossard and Bethany Forsyth. The two team battled back and forth throughout, bring the score to 12-11 in favor of the Fire. Southeastern then went on a six point run, eventually taking the set, 25-20.
Set two was even closer, with the Fire barley edging the Warriors, 25-22. Down 22-18, Webber International pushed back, winning five of the last seven points.
Both teams continued to battle into the third set with neither team taking full control of the action. A five-point run put the Fire ahead, 14-8. Webber International would claw its way back in to the set, tying the it up late, 23-23. Southeastern would take the next two points, to win the set and the match, 3-0.
The Warriors are back in action, Saturday, October 2 at 2 p.m., when Webber International hosts archrivals Warner.
