AVE MARIA, Fla. – Webber International University faced off with Ave Maria in the Sun Conference opener for the Warriors. The first two sets were tightly contested but Webber International did not falter, defeating the Gyrenes, 3-0.

Bethany Forsyth led the Warriors attack, notching 13 kills and a solo block. On defense, Michelle Calderon was the star coming up with 14 crucial digs.

The first set saw neither team go up by more than three points. Down 20-19, the Warriors took six of the final seven points to win the set, 25-21.

Set two played out much like the first, with Webber International winning out 25-21. With the score even at 21-21, the Warriors went on a four-point run to win the set and go ahead, 2-0, in the match.

Webber International dominated the final set, holding the lead from start to finish, eventually winning the match, 3-0.

The Warriors are back in action with another Sun Conference match, Saturday, September 26 at 2pm on the road versus Keiser.
