Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's basketball hosted No. 7 Marian University, Saturday, before heading into Christmas Break. The Warriors kept it close with one of the top teams in the nation but eventually fell, 73-60.
Jurnee Pettigrew led the way for the Warriors with an efficient 16 points on 6-8 shooting, while grabbing five rebounds.
Jessica Colson added 12 points after going 4-8 from beyond the arch.
Mar'Lisa Braxton and
Jermisha Mcrae both netted 11 points each.
Webber International struggled early on, only scoring 10 points in the first quarter. Marian came out fast on the other hand, scoring 27 points in the first period.
The Warriors shook off the rust in the second quarter to get back in the game. With a minute left before halftime Webber International found itself down 15, but the Warriors scored five hard earned points in the paint to narrow the deficit to 37-27.
With momentum on its side, Webber International continued to eat away at the Knight's lead. The Warriors opened the third quarter with a 10-4 run, bring the Marian advantage under the double digit mark. The two teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter, with the Warriors hitting two late threes to go into the final period down, 51-45.
In the fourth quarter the Warriors were able to keep it close but Marian pulled away late, taking the game, 71-60.
