Men’s Basketball Blows Past Florida College in 2nd Half, Wins 74-64

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Webber International University men's basketball faced off against Florida College, Tuesday, on the road. After a slow first half, the Warriors turned up the pressure on defense, limiting the Falcons to 27 points and winning out 74-64.

The Warriors front court led the way collecting 44 of the team's 74 points. Daniel Coffey posted his second 20-point game of the season, going 8-16 from the field. Dewaine Lyals was strong in the paint, scoring 12 points while hauling in seven offensive rebounds. Jovany Deceus was the third Warrior player to surpass the double-digit mark, netting 12 points on a team-high three three-pointers.

The Warriors and Falcons went back and forth for most of the first half. With nine minutes to play and the scored knotted at 15-15, Florida College went on a 15-4 run to take control of the game. Webber International kept the pressure up but after 20 minutes they were down, 37-31.

Webber International came out in the second half fast and aggressive. The Warriors full court trap finally paid dividends, flustering the Falcons and distrusting their offensive rhythm. Webber International opened the half with a 15-4 run of its own to take an early 46-41 lead. Midway through the second half, the Warriors were holding on to a slim, 61-57, lead. Facing a Florida College comeback, the Warriors stood strong and iced the game late with solid free-throw shooting to win the game, 74-64.

The Warriors are back in action, Friday, November 13 in an exhibition game against Division-I opponent Georgia Southern.
