Volleyball Sweeps Florida National in Straight Sets

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University volleyball hosted Florida National University, Thursday night, taking down the Conquistadors, 3-0. Freshman Sophie Rossard had a strong match, posting eight kills and a team-high 25 assists.

Florida National started fast, but the Warriors stood strong to take the set. After falling behind, 8-5, Webber International responded by winning eight of the next 11 points to go up 13-11. Florida National would take the lead again at 17-15, when the Warriors scored nine unanswered points, eventually taking the set, 25-18.

The second set was tightly contested, with the teams trading points to the very end. With the score at 12-9 in favor of Webber International, the Conquistadors went on a five-point run to take a slim lead, but the Warriors responded with a five-point run of their own to retake the lead. The set would see three more ties, before the Warriors took the final two points to win the set, 25-13.

Webber International dominated the third set. A 10-point run gave the Warriors am early, 14-2 advantage. A late six-point outburst by Webber International but them up, 23-9 , leading to the eventually 25-11, win and 3-0 victory in the match.

The Warriors are back in action, Friday, October 16 in a conference road match up against St. Thomas.
