Men’s Soccer Drops Match Against St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International University men's soccer faced off against St. Thomas, Saturday, in a Sun Conference road match. The Warriors would be narrowly edged by the Bobcats, 3-1.

St. Thomas jumped out to an early lead, scoring off a long distance strike in the fifth minute. The Warrior offense played well, but were unlucky to not find the back of the net in the first Half. Webber International forced the Bobcat goalie to make three saves, while Sam Todd saw a dangerous strike get blocked. After 45 minutes, the Warriors were down, 1-0.

Webber International came out fast in the second half, finding an equalizer in the 47th minute. Todd played a great ball to Driss Baraket, who finished the chance, bring the score to 1-1. St. Thomas responded with two unanswered goals, taking a 3-1 lead with six minutes to play.

The Warriors did not give up, seeing two shots destined for the goal get blocked, while an Ivan Bakovic chance pinging off the post. When the final whistle blew, the Webber International had fallen to St. Thomas, 3-1.

The Warriors are back in action, Monday, October 19 on the road against Florida College.
