Men’s Soccer Falls Late to (RV) Florida Memorial

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International Univeristy men's soccer continued conference play, Wednesday, on the road against Florida Memorial falling to the Lions, 2-1.

The first half was a defensive struggle, seeing no goals. Florida Memorial came out fast on offense, creating three dangerous chances in the first three minutes of the game. The Warrior defense was up to the task, seeing Randy Chesson make two saves to keep the Lions off the board.

Webber International continued to fend off the Florida Memorial offense in the first half, forcing the Lions to settle for tough shots. After the first 45 minutes, Chesson had made four big saves, sending the teams into half time tied at 0-0.

The second half saw the offense pick up for both sides. Early in the second half, Florida Memorial was able to draw a penalty kick. Chesson continued his stellar game making the save and turning the tides in favor of the Warriors. Three minutes later, Niall Doherty collected a pass from Driss Baraket and buried the ball in the back of the net to put the Warriors up, 1-0.

Florida Memorial would go on to score two unanswered goals, including a penalty kick, eventually taking the match, 2-1. Even after seeing two goals find the back of the net, Chesson was strong, finishing the match with eight saves.

The Warriors are back in action, Saturday, October 17 with a Sun Conference road match against St. Thomas.
