Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University men's soccer hosted No. 4 Thomas University, Thursday, in a Sun Conference match up. In a game that saw nine total goals, the Warriors fell to the Night Hawks, 5-4.
It was a cracking start to the match, with the Warriors scoring in the first minute. Sean Whalen played a great ball to a streaking Sam Todd who was able to get the ball around the keeper. The Night Hawks equalized in the 10th minute and would go on to score two more unanswered goals to build a 3-1 advantage.
With time winding down in the first half, Todd found the ball at the top of the box. He used some strong dribbling to create space and fired a great strike that found the back of the net, sending Webber International in to halftime down, 3-2.
The Warriors were first to score in the second half. Driss Baraket collected the ball off a rebound in front of an open goal and tied the game up at 3-3. The next two minutes saw two more goals, including a fantastic long distance goal from Ivan Bakovic, bring the score to 4-4.
Both teams pushed to find a game winner, but it was Thomas who found it, taking a 5-4 lead off a converted corner kick, eventually winning the game.
The Warriors are back in action, Sunday, October 4 at 3:30 p.m. against SCAD – Savannah.
