Miami, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors basketball team faced off against the #2 seeded Ave Maria University in The Sun Conference Tournament Championship game today. The Lady Gyrenes are headed to the NAIA National Tournament with the one point win over the Lady Warriors, 70-69.
Ave Maria started out on fire out scoring Webber in the first half 43-29. After the break the Lady Warriors came out a different team taking the lead for the first time. Both teams fought back and forth for the last five minutes of the game. With 20 seconds left to play the Lady Gyrenes retook the lead 70-69. In the last 20 seconds the Lady Warriors took and missed the last shot falling to the Lady Gyrenes.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the court were;
Jasmine Singleton with 14 points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal;
Laquandra Brazill scored 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal;
Yesenia Lora scored 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot; and
Sarah Dileonardo scored 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and a steal.
This loss ended the Lady Warriors season 15-12 overall and the Lady Gyrenes improve their record to 23-10 overall.
