BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors basketball team hosted the Florida College Falcons in the Sabbagh Athletic Center for their season and home opener tonight at 7:00 p.m. The Falcons clawed the win away from the Warriors in the second half to win 81-75.
Florida College started off strong catching the Warriors off guard. During the entire first half the Falcons were on top leading the Warriors. Webber would not let the Falcons get too far ahead holding them to within ten points at most in the first half. At half time, the Falcons were winning 41-33 over the Warriors.
In the second half, the Warriors battled back to gain the lead for the first time with eight minutes left to play. With two starters getting in foul trouble the Warriors looked to the bench for a spark only to have the Falcons shutdown every attempt to extend the lead. The Falcons regained the lead with less than six minutes left to play and never lost it for the rest of the game. Webber lost 81-75 to Florida College.
Leading the Warriors on the court were:
Raymond Durant with 22 points and four steals;
Maynard Rowe with 12 points and four rebounds; and
Dewaine Lyals with 11 points, four rebounds, and a steal.
The Warriors record fall to 0-1 overall and will return to action on Friday November 7
th as they participate in the St. Francis Tournament.
