BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors men's soccer team hosted conference opponent Johnson & Wales University Wildcats today on Warriors Field at 3:00 p.m. The Warriors held off the Wildcats to get their first conference win despite playing with only 10 men for most of the second half.
The Warriors scored their goal in the 8
th minute of the game as
Callum Donnelly found the back of the net on a pass from
Leonardo Cid, 1-0. After the Warriors scored, both team had a hard time moving the ball out of the midfield. The Warriors found themselves defending most of the second half as one of the Warriors got ejected for collecting two yellow cards. Despite being down a player the Warriors were able to hold off the Wildcats and win the game 1-0.
Leading the Warriors on the field were;
Callum Donnelly with the Warriors lone goal; Leonard Cid with the lone assist for the Warriors;
Matthew Brust with a shutout in the goal for the Warriors.
Webber's record improves to 5-5 overall and 1-4 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, October 11
th as they host conference opponent Northwood University starting at 3:30 p.m. on Warriors Field.
