Warriors Win the Crooked Lake Cup

BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Warriors Men's Soccer team played Warner University in a regular season conference game, a battle was predicted and that is what happened! Warner came out strong pressuring from the very beginning and managed to break though the Warriors defense but Brandon Stout took care of the situations that occurred. Time was winding down in the first half and when Coach Cockburn put on senior Gonzalo Ruiz he was an impact right away. Tyler Kuykendall a second assist by a thrown now found Gonzalo Ruiz on the back post to put the Warriors 1-0 at half time! The second half began with a bang with Warner coming out strong once again, however found it hard to get behind the Warriors defense and Brandon Stout. Warner eventually found the back of the net when a ball failed to get cleared from the 6 yard box to find #10 Miguel Benito to equalize the game with only 2 minutes on the clock. The game went into overtime and the best opportunity came from the Warriors when Moritz Hoccholzner went up for a header against the Warner keeper Leo Viala, however the ball was cleared from the line. The game eventually ended in a 1-1 tie and will mean that Webber will now play southeastern in the quarter finals of the Conference tournament. This was also a day where Webber honored their seniors at half time Sam Willans, Alan Percival, Gonzalo Ruiz, Fabian Egger, Javier Zorro, Jose Alarcon, Mark Aruajo, Andy Hernandez and Craig Hughes. "You have no idea how much these players mean to me, they set the tone not only for the season but the program in general, they have given me everything they could during their time here, there is nothing I won't do for them, they will be deeply missed!" According to Coach Cockburn. This game means that the Warriors finish their regular season 9-3-1 and 6-3-1 in the conference, their next game will be November 9th time to be determined.
