BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors basketball team faced off against conference opponent Ave Maria University Lady Gyrenes in the Sabbagh Athletic Center located on the campus of WIU. The Lady Gyrenes proved to be too much for the Lady Warriors ending the game with a final score of 86-65.
The first half of the game the Lady Warriors trailed the Lady Gyrenes for most of the half and went into the locker room with a score of 39-30 Lady Gyrenes on top. Leading the Lady Warriors on the court for the first half was Jasmine Rodriguez with 12 points and Yesenia Lora with 10 points.
The Lady Gyrenes came out of the half and kept their foot on the gas extending the lead to over 20 points. The Lady Warriors were led by Jasmine Rodriguez with 14 points, one assist and steal, and five rebounds. Also Yesenia Lora had 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Lastly Sarah Dileonardo scored 10 points had nine rebounds one steal, block and assist.
The Lady Warriors record moves to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in The Sun Conference and the Lady Gyrenes record moves to 8-6 overall and 1-0 in The Sun Conference.
The Lady Warriors will return to action on January 11th when they host conference opponent St. Thomas University in the Sabbagh Athletic Center starting at 7:00 pm
