Lady Warriors Dominate Wildcats in Victory

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Lady Warriors add one more win to their latest win streak by defeating the visiting Johnson and Wales Wildcats 81-46. With the win, WIU winning streak increased to 4 games with 3 of them coming to the hands of conference opponents.
 
The first half was dominated by WIU as they forced the Wildcats into 14 first half turnovers. The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 26-9 lead with 9:18 remaining in the first half. Samantha Harvey came off the bench and provided a spark with her offense. She had 11 first half points in just 8 minutes including 3 for 4 from the 3-point line.
 
The second half seemed more convincing as the Lady Warriors made a 9-0 run early in the half that pushed their lead by 30 points with 12 minutes remaining. The reserves for The Lady Warriors played exceptional. Samantha Harvey rose to the occasion of the bench with a game high 18 points to go along with 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Kala Alicea provided crucial minutes of the bench with 13 points and 2 rebounds. Yesenia Lora chipped in with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Senior guard Erin Henry who notched her second consecutive start led the team with 6 assists.  She also had 7 points and 3 rebounds.
 
With the win tonight WIU improve their overall record to 9-8 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
 
Up next for the Lady Warriors will be rival school Warner University. The game will be next week Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla. on the campus of Warner.
