Visiting Lions Shut Out Warriors

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The visiting Florida Memorial University Lions Men's Soccer team defeated the Warriors squad with the final score of 2-0. With the rain pouring down early in the match, the Lions were able to make an aggressive attack early in the game with Leonardo Ibanez scoring on a header 7 minutes into the match. The Lions were able to take a 1-0 lead headed into halftime.

The second half started almost identical to the first with FMU scoring early on another goal from Ibanez. The Warriors tried to answer back while playing with a sense of urgency but it seemed a bit too late as the clock was not in their favor. FMU finished the match with 19 shots at the goal while WIU had 11 shots. Leading the Warriors was Vicente Munoz and Stephen McGinn with 4 shots each. Goalkeeper Matthew Brust had 5 saves.

The Warriors will be in action again this coming Saturday when the host conference opponent St. Thomas University at 4:00 p.m. on Warriors Field.
