Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Men's Basketball hosted #1 Northwood University on Monday February 6, 2012 in the Sabbagh Athletic Center. WIU controlled the time of possession for the most of the game, but came short at the end, with the final score of 47-59.
Warriors came out in the first half controlling the possession of the ball by utilizing the entire shot clock.
Jakeem Hill scored the first points of the game at the 17:10 minute mark. Both teams exchanged buckets and played hard in the first half until Noah Keeton made a three pointer to take the lead, and the Seahawks kept the 29-16 lead into halftime.
Troy Simmons led the Warriors in the first half with 6 points, a rebound, a steal and 2 assists. Noah Keeton came off the bench for Northwood and led his team with 10 points.
Webber had 10 points in the paint, 2 points off turnovers, 4 second chance points, 2 fast break points, and 2 points by the bench. Seahawks had 16 points in the paint, 7 points off turnovers, 4 second chance points, 2 points off fast break, and 13 points from the bench. Webber out-rebounded Seahawks 16-11, but they turn the ball 7 times to only 3 by Northwood.
Jay Philippe came alive in second half offensively for the Warriors; he ended the night with 14, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Jakeem Hill also came alive in the second half; he finished the game with 13 points, 5 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Northwood had four players scoring in double digits. Jonathan Dunn and Patrick Horstmann both finished the night with 12 points, but Patrick Horstmann had a double-double with his 11 rebounds.
Warriors finished the night with 24 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers, 6 second chance points, 8 fast break points, and 8 points off the bench. Seahawks finished the night with 26 points in the paint; 17 points off turnovers, 4 second chance points, 6 fast break points, and their bench had 18 points. Webber out-rebounded Northwood 27-26, respectively, but they turned the ball over 14 times to only 12 by NU.
Warriors fall to 9-12 in the season and 3-9 in 3-9 in The Sun Conference; whereas, Seahawks improve to 24-2 in the season and 11-1 in The Sun Conference.
Webber International University will host Florida Memorial University at home on February 9, 2012 at Sabbagh Athletic Center and the tip-off will be at 7 pm.
