Lady Warriors Lose a Heartbreaker in OT

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University (2-21; TSC 1-7) Women's Basketball lost a heartbreaker to a conference foe, Southeaster University (9-12, TSC 4-4), on Friday February 3, 2012 with a score of 63-67 in the Sabbagh Athletic Center. Sarah Dileonardo had a double-double, but it was not enough to overcome Lady Fire.

Sarah Dileonardo came out hot for the Warriors shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc and scoring 13 points, she also had an offensive rebound, an assist, and two steals.

Nadia Givens led Lady Fire with 13 points of her own, and she came up with 2 rebounds, and 5 assists.

SEU out-rebounded WIU 18-12, and they have also turned the ball over 10 times to only 6 by the Warriors. Webber had 8 point in the paint, 6 points off turnovers, 6 second chance points, 4 points off fast-break, and 11 points by the bench. Southeastern had 14 points in the paint, 6 points off turnovers, 7 second chance points, 2 fast break points, and 8 points by their bench. Southeastern led Webber International 36-26 at the half.

Lady Warriors chipped the deficit to 34-41 before the first media timeout at 14:41 minute mark. Few turnovers by Southeastern and easy fast-break points in the paint.

A three point shot made by Marjorie Thompson at 6:45 minute mark reduced the deficit to 48-52. Marjorie Thompson came out hot off the bench where she tied the game at 52-52. Sarah Dileonardo made a three-point shot with 4:05 minutes to go in the game to take their first lead, 55-52, in the second half. Japhnor Luzincourt was big for the Warriors in the paint where she ended the night with 6 rebounds. Rachel Turner for Southeastern too the lead back for Lady Fire with less than three minutes to go in the game. However, Sarah Dileonardo tied the game at 58-58 with a three point shot with 8 seconds left on the clock.

Lady Fire came out hot in overtime making the first four points. Kala Alicea made a three point shot to stay within a point to SEU, but Warriors came out short at the end of the night.

Sarah Dileonardo led the Warriors with a double-double where she made 22 points, and had 10 rebounds, she also had 2 assists, and two steals.

Nadia Givens led Southeastern to a victory with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Lady Warriors will be back in action at home tomorrow, Saturday February 4, 2012 versus another conference opponent, Ave Maria University, in the Sabbagh Athletic Center and the tip-off will be at 2 pm.
