Warriors Drop Another Conference Match

Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla. - The Ave Maria University men's basketball team outscored Webber International University 40-28 at halftime and went on to win 78-72.

Vivas, a guard from Mexico City, Mexico, dished out two assists shortly after the tipoff, resulting in made three-pointers for the Gyrenes to give them an early lead. The Gyrenes held a lead throughout the remainder of the game despite the efforts of WIU's Jakeem Hill and Gabriel Rutledge. Jakeem Hill scored 23 points with nine rebounds and Gabriel Rutledge poured in ten points with 17 rebounds.

Tthe Gyrenes improved to 15-13 overall and 4-10 in the conference following Monday night's win, as the Warriors fell to 10-14 overall and 4-11 in The Sun Conference. Sophomore Matt Chattin scored a game-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 behind the arc. Junior forward Dylan Fugate recorded a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds while also leading the Gyrenes with four assists.

Webber will be hosting #25 Southeastern University in their regular season, and they will be honoring three seniors at 7 pm on February 16, 2012 in the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
