Lady Warriors Volleyball Split Final Two Conference Games

Babson Park, FL.    The Lady Warriors Volleyball team split their final two The Sun Conference matches over the weekend losing to #6 Embry Riddle 0-3 on Friday night and beating Southeastern 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Warriors end the regular season 18-10, 9-2 TSC and in second place. The Lady Warriors will have a first round bye in the upcoming The Sun Conference Tournament.


On Friday night, November 2nd, the Lady Warriors traveled to Daytona Beach, FL. to battle The Sun Conference foe #6 Embry Riddle University. The Lady Eagles seemed too much for the Lady Warriors in this match defeating them 0-3 (15-25, 17-25, 13-25). Junior Setter Katie Lindstrom recoded another double double dishing out 16 assist and picking up 15 digs. Freshman Outside Shanice Vander Sloot recoded 7 digs and 5 kills while hitting .222%. Sophomore Libero Tanner Garbut recorded 8 digs in the match.

The Lady Warriors will look to get revenge as they seek to play Embry Riddle in the The Sun Conference Championship game on Saturday November 10th.


On Saturday afternoon, The WIU Lady Warriors traveled to Lakeland to battle Southeastern University in thier conference and regular season finale. Coming off a loss to #6 Embry Riddle, the WIU Lady Warriors looked to seal the second overall seed in the The Sun Conference Tournament. The Lady Warriors would come out determined and focused to extinguish the Fire in straight sets winning 3-0 (25-20, 28-26, 25-23)

Junior Setter Katie Lindstrom paced the Lady Warriors offense with 39 assist and picked up 21 digs on defense. Junior Opposite Karimah Hay lead the team with 15 kills and picked up 10 digs on defense to record the double double.. Hay was also efficient hitting .353% in the match. Freshman Shanice Vander Sloot was jusat behind Hay with 14 kills and scooped up 6 digs. Junior Middle Blocker Deidre Noble lead the team with a .364% hitting percentage adn recorded 6 kills.

Sophmore Libero Tanner Garbutt lead the Lady Warriors back row defense with a match high 24 digs and also recorded 6 assist. Junior DS Hayley Bennett showed up big time recording 14 digs for the Lady Warriors. As a team, The Lady Warriors had 7 services aces, 81 digs, 5 blocks and a .200% hitting percentage.

The WIU Lady Warriors will be back in action this upcoming weekend, November 9th and 10th, when they travel to Daytona Beach, FL. for the The Sun Conference Volleyball Tournament at Embry Riddle Univeristy.
