Game One
Daytona Beach, FL. In the first matchup Saturday morning, the WIU Lady Warriors Volleyball team was pitted against (RV) Bellevue University (Neb.). The Lady Warriors came out strong taking the first set but Bellevue bounced back to take the next three and the match with a 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 16-25) victory.
Freshman
Breanna Evoy lead the Lady Warriors with 16 kills and a .310% hitting percentage and also scooping up 13 digs to record the double-double. Junior
Candace Doren lead the team with a .545% hitting percentage with he 6 kills and 0 errors in the match. Junior
Karimah Hay Was close behind Evoy recoding 13 kills and helping out on defense with 12 digs to also record a double-double. Junior Setter
Katie Lindstrom narrowly missed a double-double in the match as she paced the Lady Warriors offense with 45 assist and grabbing 9 digs.
Sophomore Libero
Tanner Garbutt led the Lady Warriors defensively grabbing 16 digs. As a team, the Lady Warriors recorded a total of 67 digs. With the loss, the Lady Warriors drop to 11-7, 4-0 TSC.
Game Two
Daytona Beach, FL. In their final match of the ERAU Tournament, the WIU Lady Warriors faced off against Bethel University (TN.) The Lady warriors lost a close first match but surged back to win the next three and take the match 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 26-24, 25-12).
In a total team effort, the Lady Warriors played tough throughout the match. Junior
Shauna Brown lead the team in kills and had a .333% hitting percentage. Brown also recorded a double-double in the match as she picked up 17 digs to go long with her 14 kills. Freshman
Breanna Evoy was right behind Brown with 13 kills and helped the defense out with 12 digs to record another double-double.
Junior Setter
Katie Lindstrom recorded another double-double for the Lady Warriors with 42 assist and 16 digs in the match. Juniors
Karimah Hay and
Hayley Bennett recorded 14 digs apiece respectively for the Lady Warriors. As a team, the Lady Warriors recorded 80 digs, 6 service aces and 8.5 total blocks. The Lady Warriors improve to 12-7, 4-0 TSC with the victory.
Junior
Shauna Brown was announced to the All Tournament Team for her excellent play during the tournament. During the tournament, Brown recorded 30 kills, 21 digs and averaged a .262% hitting percentage.
The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday October 9
th when the travel to Trinity, FL. to take on Trinity College of Florida. The match is slated to start at 7:00 pm.
