10/27/2012 4:13:00 PM

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. Webber International University Men's Soccer team defeated Florida College early today with the final score of 1-0.

Not only was it the last game of the season, it was also Senior Day for three players that have been critical with the success of the team this season and recent years. The seniors honored today were Michael Dowson; a native of England, Miguel Leon; a native of Venezuela and finally, Jordan Leeming; also a native of England.  Prior to the match, these players were highlighted by their coaches and teammates for their impact and accomplishments throughout their playing career. Family and friends of these players were in attendance to celebrate this memorable time. Coach Cockburn stated “ I enjoyed coaching these players over the years and they will be missed by the team and coaches as they continue with the next chapter of their lives”.

Senior midfielder Michael Dowson scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick with 14:31 minutes remaining in the first half. The Warriors finished with 13 shots while Florida College had only 8 shots. Leading the Warriors with shots was Stephen McGinn with 3 shots followed by Leonardo Cid with 2 shots.

This ends a remarkable year for WIU's Men's Soccer Team that played well together for the most part of the year, especially towards the end of the season. WIU finished the season with a 6-8-2 overall record while finishing 2-6-2 in The Sun Conference. We wish our seniors success as they begin a new chapter in their lives away from the playing field.
