Lady Warriors Volleyball Sweeps Weekend Conference Matches

Babson Park, FL.        Over the weekend, the Lady Warriors Volleyball team had a pair of The Sun Conference matches against Northwood University and Ave Maria University. On Friday night, The Lady Warriors took out the Lady Seahawks in straight sets winning 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-14). Following the Friday night sweep, The Lady Warriors kept the momentum going and swept the Lady Gyrenes of Ave Maria in straight sets winning 3-0 (25-14 25-19, 25-22).


Lady Warriors v. Northwood University

    The Lady Warriors Volleyball team swept The Sun Conference foe Northwood University in straight sets on Friday night in West Palm Beach, FL. winning 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-14). Junior Setter Katie Lindstrom continued to build on a great season by pacing the Lady Warriors offense with 27 assist. Lindstrom also chipped in with 3 service aces and helped out on defense with 6 digs. Junior Shauna Brown hit .636% to lead the team and tied for the team lead with 7 kills. Brown was a presence at the net tallying 2 solo blocks. Freshman Breanna Evoy and Junior Karimah Hay, reining The Sun Conference Player of the Week, hit .385% and .227% to lead the Warriors offense. Evoy and Hay had 5 and 7 kills respectively and both helped out on defense recording 8 digs a piece. Sophomore Libero Tanner Garbutt lead the Lady Warriors defense with 12 digs and had  assist and 1 kill to aid the Lady Warrior offense.

    As a team, the Lady Warriors hit .225% and tallied 7 service aces against the Lady Seahawks. Defensively, the Lady Warriors recorded 51 digs and 8 blocks to shut down the Seahawks. The win improves the Lady Warriors to 10-5, 3-0 TSC.




Lady Warriors v. Ave Maria University

    Following their Friday night sweep, the Lady Warriors took on The Sun Conference for Ave Maria University in a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Lady Warriors winning in straight sets once again with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-22) victory. Junior Setter Katie Lindstrom continued to pace the offense with 26 assist and added 4 kills to her total. Lindstrom also recorded 2 service aces against the Lady Gyrenes and helped out on defense with 4 digs. Freshman Shanice Van Der Sloot hit a team high with a .350% while recording 7 kills and 7 digs on defense. Junior Karihma Hay lead the Lady Warriors with 11 kills and recorded 7 digs followed by Freshman Breanna Evoy with 7 kills respectively. Sophomore Libero Tanner Garbutt lead the team in digs with 9.

    As a team, the Lady Warriors recorded 10 service aces against the Lady Gyrenes and racked up 36 digs in the contest. With the win, the Lady Warriors improve to 11-5, 4-0 TSC. The Lady Warriors will be back in action this weekend, October 5th and 6th at the Embry Riddle Tournament in Daytona Beach, FL.
