West Palm Beach, Fla. – Lady Warriors continues their winning ways on Saturday September 10, 2011 as they took care of business against their conference foe, Northwood University. They shut out Lady Seahawks 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, and 25-20).
Taylor Eiken scored first in the match where she was set perfectly by
Katie Lindstrom, and the Lady Warriors were determined to stay undefeated in The Sun Conference. Lady Seahawks were not going down without a fight. In the first game, Northwood only led three times by one point each of the occasions. The last lead they had was taken by a kill from Caitlin Barsumian. However,
Raisa Thorne-Romany tied the game after
Kristine Monforte set her, and finished the first set by an attack error by Lady Seahawks with the final score of Webber 25 and Northwood 20.
In the second game, Northwood took the first point; however, a set by
Kristine Monforte to
Shauna Brown tied the game and the Warriors went on a competitive stretch with Seahawks. A service ace by Caitlin Barsumian gave Northwood their largest lead of the night, 19-16. Nonetheless, Captain
Julianne Dougherty was not going to allow Northwood to take the game. She tied the game with a kill through the defenders block at 21-21. And she finished the game with strong services. The final score of the game was 26-24 WARRIORS.
The third and final game, the Warriors went on a 6-0 stretch with strong serving from
Alida Schat. In spite of that, Northwood went on its own seven point stretch, to come to within a point.
Julianne Dougherty was determined to take the match and add another victory to the conference record. She killed a perfectly set ball by
Katie Lindstrom to give the momentum back to the Lady Warriors. The match was finished by a kill from
Ashley Wolfe with the final score Webber 25 and Northwood 20.
Team leaders for Lady Warriors were
Katie Lindstrom,

Taylor Eiken, and
Julianne Dougherty. Katie led the team in assists with 23, she also helped Lady Warriors with one kill, two service aces, and three block assists.
Ashley Wolfe led the team in blocks with one solo and four block assists.
Taylor Eiken had 10 kills, one assist, and a defensive dig.
Julianne Dougherty led the team in total kills with 14, she contribute to the team with two assists, on serving ace, 10 defensive digs, and one block assist. Kara Wenz led Lady Seahawks with 13 kills, and 10 digs.

The Warriors improve to 2-1 overall record and 2-0 in the conference, while Northwood declines to 0-8 overall and 0-1 in The Sun Conference.
Lady Warriors will take on Crooked Lake foe Warner University on Wednesday September 14, 2011 at 7 pm at home in a conference match. The following day, September 15, 2011 at 7 pm, they will take on Florida College, and they will finish the week off by hosting SCADS Savannah, another The Sun Conference opponent, on Saturday September 17, 2011 at 2 pm.
