Warriors Fall to Conference Opponent St. Thomas University

Box Score Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors faced conference opponent St. Thomas University Bobcats in men's basketball on Saturday, December 03, 2011. The game went down to the wire as the Bobcats bested the Warriors in the last minute of the game winning 73-68.

 In the first half of play the Warriors started out strong getting an eight point lead over the Bobcats with 12:25 left till half time. The Bobcats would rally back and take the lead six point lead over the Warriors with 1:24 left till the half. The Warriors would cut that lead down to three points going into the locker room trailing the Bobcats 36-33. In the first half the Bobcats scored 16 points in the paint and 14 points off of turnovers whereas the Warriors scored 18 points in the paint and 5 points off of turnovers.

In the second half of the game the Bobcats extended their lead over the Warriors to 12 points with 12:05 left to play in the game. The Warriors worked their way back to trail by one point with 17 seconds left on the clock 69-68. The Warriors were in a full court press when the Bobcats scored a layup and got fouled at the same time extending their lead to 71-68. The Bobcats missed the free throw and got fouled again as they got the rebound. The Bobcats made both free throws ending the game up 73-68.

Leaders on the court for the Bobcats were; #24 Chuck Sanders with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal; and #33 Everson Lacerda with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Leaders on the court for the Warriors were; #33 Dave Marlar with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist; #15 Tyler Aurbacher with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists; #03 Jay Philippe with 10 points and 2 assists; #10 Johnson Mesidor with 10 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal; and #21 Gabriel Rutledge with 10 rebounds, 4 points, 4 assists, and 3 blocks;

The Warriors record falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in The Sun Conference and the Bobcats improve their record to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in The Sun Conference.

The Warrior will return to action on December 16th as they host Union College (KY) and tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
