Montgomery, AL – The Webber International University Warriors football team traveled to Montgomery, AL, to take on Huntingdon College Hawks football team and lost in the last minutes of the game, 42-28.
The first half of the game was controlled by the Hawks as they scored 28 points over the Warriors 7. The Warriors scored their only points with a pass completion to Chris Hart with 1:42 left in the half.
In the second half of the game the Warriors were on a roll stopping the Hawks first drive and scored on a
Mitchell Choquette's 36 yard reception bringing the game with in 14. The Hawks would then answer with a touchdown of their own. After which the Warriors' Joseph Carter scored on a 4 yard reception with 10:42 left in the game. The Warriors defense would hold the Hawks allowing the Warriors to score again with 5:20 left in the game coming within 7, 35-28. The Hawks put the final nail in the Warriors when they scored with 1:35 left in the game with a final score of, 42-28.
The Warriors held the Hawks to 102 yards rushing and 303 yards passing in the game the lowest total yards for the Hawks all year.
Leaders for the Warriors offence were
Torrance Moise rushing for 59 yards and passing for 182 while completing 2 touchdown passes. Also, Chris Hart went 9-12 in passing gaining 155 yards with 2 touchdown receptions.
Leaders for the Warriors on defense were
Steven Willis with 5 unassisted tackles and 4 assisted tackles. Also
Ricky Carlson had 6 unassisted tackles and 2 assisted tackles.
The Warriros record falls to 1-6 while the Hawks record improves to 6-2.
The Warriors will be on the road again next week as they take on Ave Maria University on Saturday, October 29, 2011, with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
