Babson Park, Fla. – Staging an amazing comeback against Southeastern University in a Sun Conference matchup the Warriors men's basketball won Wednesday night, 89-76.
Coming off recent conference losses the Warriors came out on the court looking for redemption. The Warriors quickly scored the first points in the game and looked as if they came to play. However, Southeastern University took an early lead with 18:25 left in the first half and never gave it back. With 6 minutes left in the first half Southeastern University led by 21 points but the Warriors were not giving in and began to posting points on the board. At the end of the first half the Warriors were able to get within 12 points of Southeastern University, 43-31.
The second half started off grim for the Warriors as Southeastern University scored the first goals gaining an 18 point lead with 17 minutes left. The Warriors then started to cut into Southeastern University's lead and tied the game with
Mike Bonilla making his second free-throw. The game went back and forth until
Marvin Williams hit a 3 point shot putting the Warriors on top with 9:40 left in the game. Throughout the rest of the second half,
Marvin Williams #23 proved to be a crowd pleaser with the help of his teammates he was able to post impressive 3 point shots and 2 slam dunks that energized the team and crowd. In the second half the Warriors out scored Southeastern by an impressive 25 points, 58-33.
Marvin Williams lead the Warriors on the court with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Also leading the Warriors was
Mike Bonilla with 16 points and 6 assists.
Brandon Thomas assisted the Warriors with 13 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. This win improves the Warriors record to 8-8 overall and 3-4 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors next game is on Saturday, January 22, hosted by Florida Memorial University, tip off is at 7p.m.
