Warriors End Losing Streak By Holding Off Edward Waters College In Overtime

Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International University's men's basketball team posted an impressive overtime victory Wednesday night over Edward Waters College in Jacksonville with a score of 74-71.
Just coming off a recent overtime loss the Warriors were determined not to let that happen again.  After a rough start to the first half the Warriors left the court at half time with just a 2 point lead over Edward Waters College, 34-32. The second half was a hard fought battle with the lead shifting back and forth, leading to an end of regulation tie 64-64 forcing the game into overtime.  With about a minute left in overtime the Warriors were trailing by 2 points, 71-69. Junior Geidi then connected from three point range putting the Warriors up by 1 point, 72-71. Edward Waters College then fouled Geidi sending him to the line where he made both free throws ending the game 74-71.
Throughout regulation leading the Warriors on the court was Marvin Williams with a double-double scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Geidi also assisted the Warriors with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Luke Marlar also chipped in with 10 points. This win improves the Warriors record to 7-7 while Edward Waters College moves to 5-10 for the season.
The Warriors will play their next opponent Johnson and Wales University in Miami, Fla. at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011.
