Royals Defeat the Warriors’ women’s basketball team at Sabbagh Athletic Center

Babson Park, Fla. - The Warriors' women's basketball team took on the Lady Royals in a hard fought, last second game and was defeated by 2 points. The first game of the Crooked Lake rivalry went to the Lady Royals 74-72 in the last 4 seconds of regulation.
From the beginning of the game it was clear that the Lady Royals came to play as they scored the first points in just 4 seconds after tip off. Throughout the first half the Warriors fought hard but could never tie or gain the lead over the Royals. At the end of the first half the Warriors were trailing by 8 points, 39-31.
During half time the Lady Warriors rallied together and came out looking for the win. The Warriors took the lead from the Royals within the first 6 minutes of the second half. The game then changed to a back and forth battle with five more lead changes. The Warriors scored 20 points in the paint to the Royals 10 points in the second half. Ultimately the Warriors outscored the Royals 41-35 in the second half but came up short losing by 2 points, 74-72.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the court was Nikki King with a 20-20 scoring 28 points and getting 24 rebounds. Nikki King also achieved 62% from the line shooting 8 of 13. Also assisting the Warriors was Shambrika Tomlin scoring 20 points and achieved 82% from the line shooting 9 of 11. The Lady Warriors record is now 2-9 overall and 1-2 in The Sun Conference.
The Lady Warriors take the court at 7 p.m. January 14, 2011 at St. Thomas University.
