Babson Park, Fla. – The Lady Warriors (4-2) loss their first conference match to Northwood (5-2) Saturday September 11, 2010 with a score of 1-3 (23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25). Webber International University volleyball team is 1-1 in The Sun Conference.
Lady Warriors had 44 kills, 2 more than the Seahawks, 44 assists, 4 service aces, whereas the Seahawks had 8, and the Warriors 5 blocks, to Northwood's 7 blocks. The leaders for Webber in kills were
Julianne Dougherty, assists were
Sophie Zillmann, Leyla Lloyd led the team in digs, and
Shauna Brown lead the team with blocks.
Dougherty had 13 kills, 2 assists, 1 service ace, and 10 digs. Zillmann had 1 kill, 18 assists, 7 digs, and 1 block assist. Lloyd had 1 kill, 1 service ace, and 24 digs. Brown had 8 kills, 2 assists, 1 dig, and 3 blocks (2 solo and 1 asssisted).
“We have the talent, but we are making few fundamental mistakes, like kills per total attack is 4.8%,” stated Head Coach Edfors. “I will have to mold their hitting accuracy this week and a few other mistakes that will have to be worked on this week are the 8 service errors and 8 receiving errors, which are like free point s to the other team,” added Coach Edfors. Nevertheless, the Lady Warriors will pull it together this week and will be a force to wreck with in The Sun Conference.
Webber will be traveling to Trinity College next Saturday September 18, 2010. The game will start at 7 p.m. in New Port Richey, Fla.
