Babson Park, Fla. – The Lady Warriors won their conference match opener verses Ave Maria University in 3 straight games (25-20, 25-22, and 25-12) today Friday September 10, 2010. Webber's volleyball overall record is 4-1 and conference record is 1-0.
Dougherty had 7 kills, 1 service ace, 4 digs, and 1 solo block. Zillmann had 10 assists, 2 serve aces, and 3 digs. Smith had 6 kills, 2 assists, 2 service aces, 4 digs, and 2 blocks. Brown led the team with 8 kills, 1 dig, and 1 block. Monforte had 3 kills, 18 assists, 3 service ace, and 9 digs.
The conference opener against the Gyrenes was a great start for the Lady Warriors. They held them to only 22 kills with 17 errors, Ave Maria had 3 service aces, but they had 8 service errors. The last game Webber was dominant, only allowing the Gyrenes 12 points.
Webber International University will be hosting Northwood University tomorrow Saturday September 11, 2010. The match will start at 2 p.m. at Sabbagh Athletic Center on WIU's campus.
