Warriors Take Down #4 Northwood

BABSON PARK, Fla-With a few seconds left in the second half, Junior Geidi hit a three-pointer to give the Webber International University men's basketball team the victory against the #4 ranked team in the NAIA, and conference foe, Northwood University to make the final score 75-72.

The Warriors led the for most of the first half, only allowing the Seahawks to get a two-point lead with 2 minutes left till the half.  Halston Schaffer led the half with 14 points, while Tyrell Harper followed with eight.  With 51 seconds left of the half, Tyler Hoevenaar hit a three-pointer to take the half-time lead 32-31.

WIU kept their momentum up coming into the second half, again only allowing the Seahawks to take the lead within the first minute of the second half.  Junior Geidi, Mark Marlar, and Luke Marlar put on an impressive show for the fans in the half. Geidi had 11 points, Mark Marlar with 10, and Luke Marlar with nine.  As the end of the game came near, Northwood's Jay Duncan hit a three-pointer with only six seconds left of the game.  As the Warriors rushed down court, Hoevenaar saw an open Geidi, who then made a perfect three-point shot with just a second left to make the Warriors victorious.

Schaffer led the night for the Warriors, going for a double-double, having 20 points and 13 rebounds.  Harper notched 14 points while Geidi collected 14.  Marlar Brothers Luke and Mark also had a great night, Luke with 11 points, and Mark going for a double-double of his own, collecting 10 rebounds and 10 points.

The Warriors will have another tough game ahead of them, as they get set to take on cross-town rival Warner University on Tuesday, January 12 at 7:00 pm home at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.  Come out and support your Warriors!!
