Lady Warriors Victorious over Lions, 66-62

BABSON PARK, Fla.-The Webber International University's women's basketball game won an exciting game Friday (Jan. 15) night as they defeated conference foe Florida Memorial University 66-62 at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.  This improves WIU to a 3-1 conference record and 7-7 overall.

 

The Lady Warriors took full control in the first half, not giving the Lions (7-10, 3-1 TSC) any kind of lead the entire 20 minutes.  Nikki King and Ashley Butler had 11 points each in the half.  Stacia Jo Hill had eight of her own, also connecting with two 3-pointers.

 

WIU continued with their dominance over the Lady Lions in the second half.  Florida Memorial made a comeback within the last two minutes of play as they tied up the score 55-55, but with Hill, King, and Butler combining 11 points, the Lady Warriors took the lead and were victorious, 66-62.

 

King led the night for WIU having another double-double with 23 points and 14 rebound.  Butler also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Dione'shia Dunbar collected 11 points and four assists, while Hill had 10 points.

 

The Lady Warriors will be in action tomorrow, as they get set to host The Sun Conference opponent St. Thomas at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.  Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m.
