Babson Park, Fla. – Webber International University's men's basketball team lands their third straight conference win at home against cross town rivals, Warner University, 67-51.
With a slow start in the first half, and five lead changes, the Warriors finally pulled through taking as much as a 16 point lead over the Royals at the end of first period.
Mark Marlar and Junior Geidi led the Warriors at the half with 7 points apiece.
As the second half came into play, the Warriors continued to hold their lead over the Royals. Taking as much as a 20 point lead with three minutes left in the game, and the feel of victory sorrowed through the fans in the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
Luke Marlar led the Warriors taking in 11 points on the night. Mike Bonilla added 10, and Halston Schaffer and Junior Geidi both collecting 9 baskets apiece.
Derell Henderson, led the Royals, taking in 19 points, going 3-for-7 in the paint and 13-for-15 at the free throw line.
Webber held their own taking a 67-51 win over the #20 ranked team in the NAIA and cross town rivals Warner University. The Warriors improved their record to 8-5 and 3-0 in the conference, as the Royals drop to 10-5 and 1-2 in the conference.
The Warriors hit the road Friday, January 15th, as they head to Miami, to take on the Bobcats, from St. Thomas University, for a 7 p.m. Sun Conference tip-off.
