BABSON PARK, Fla.- The Webber International University women's volleyball team had a very busy Saturday (Nov. 7) as they took on two conference rivals to end their regular season schedule. They defeated both Florida Memorial University and Northwood University to have an overall record of 24-8 and 14-4 in The Sun Conference, placing the Lady Warriors in the third seed for the conference tournament.
First match was against Florida Memorial University, which the Lady Warriors dominated over in three sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-8). Kristina Reeves and Julianne Dougherty both lead the team with kills, having six each. Cassady Cook tallied up 28 assists on the match and Taylor Smith notched up six digs.
In their second match of the day, Northwood University took the Lady Warriors in four tough matches, with the WIU coming out on top) 25-21, 22-25, 25-12, 25-23). Dougherty also lead her team in kills this match, collecting 11 while having 10 digs. Andrea Wilkinson stepped up this match, collecting nine kills and four block total. Also, sophomore Heather Allshouse had a clutch play in the last match, teaming up with Wilkinson for an assisted block against a Northwood hitter to end the match 25-23. Trisha Belcher had 29 assists and Stephanie Krull tallied up 19 digs.
The Lady Warriors will be on their way to The Sun Conference Tournament, which begins Friday, November 13. Check back for more details on game times.
