Warriors Defeat Knights on Senior Day 24-17

BABSON PARK, FL – The Warriors football team took their second consecutive win at home, (Saturday, November 6th) for Senior Day versus, the Knights of Southern Virginia University (Buena Vista, Virginia).
 
Opening the final home game of the 2009 football season, the Warriors recognized the twelve graduating seniors: Ryan Adams, Wayne Adams, David Anderson, Lance Ault, Desean Batiste, Justin Chesser, Bryan Cox, Jared Mitchell, Yuriy Olimpiyuk, Damion Senior, Malcolm Solomon, Jeremiah Terrill, and Rupert Webley.
 
To end the 2009 season the Warriors look to take on the Tigers of Savannah State University, Saturday, November 14th, with a 5p.m. kick off.
 
Leading the Warriors offensively was Jamal Rodman with 8 receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns, Andre Edwards with 3 for 28 yards and Jared Mitchell also with 3 for 19 yards. Torrance Moise rushed 15 times for 82 yards, Malcolm Solomon carried 7 times for 58 yards and a touchdown, and Dale Robinson with 6 carries for 26 yards.
 
Quarterback, Torrance Moise, was 20 of 33 for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
 
Defensively Logan Skjefte led the Warriors with 7 tackles, Marcus Rhines with 6 and a sack, and Ricky Carlson also collecting 6 tackles on the day.
 
Going scoreless in the first quarter for both teams, the second quarter brought new hope for the Warriors putting their first set of points on the board with a good 41 yard field goal attempt by Mason Prater, (3-0), with 9:50 remaining in the half.
 
Six plays into the Knights drive the Warriors defense forced and recovered a fumble, allowing them to take over on downs with 7:33 left in the half. Warriors quarterback, Moise, then completes a 12 yard pass to Rodman for their first touchdown off the game. Warriors lead 10-0, with less than four minutes left on the clock.
 
Forcing the Knights turnover possession with 2:19 remaining, Moise, completed another 25 yard pass to Rodman. Warriors close the second half with at 17-0 over the Knights.
 
After a continual battle of possession in the third quarter the Knights put up their first point on the board from a 17 yard pass from Sam Truluck to Derek Chapman, 10-7, at the end of the third quarter.
 
After a scoreless fourth quarter the Warriors quickly put another touchdown, from a rush by Malcolm Solomon, to secure their lead, 24-7.
 
Fighting hard to make a comeback the Knights attempted a good 31 yard field goal, (24-10) with 7:44 remaining in the game. As they force a change of possession for the Warriors they managed to put one more touchdown on the board before the close of the game. Warriors take their third consecutive win 24-17.
