Head Coach Shoffner

Head Coach Shoffner

John Shoffner who is entering his seventh season as head men’s basketball coach and 14th overall at Webber, guided the Warriors to a 15-14 record in 2009-2010. Webber ended the season in fifth place in The Sun Conference, after maintaining the 1st through 4th  spots in the conference throughout the season and receiving votes for the country’s top 25 throughout most of the season.

Shoffner continues to illustrate why many are convinced he is moving the program into the right direction. The Warriors improved in almost every offensive and defensive statistical categories while also having individuals exceed in national rankings.

Although on-the-court Shoffner has developed an exciting up-tempo brand of basketball and shaped the Warriors into a tough and hardnosed team, it is his off the court commitment and concern for his players that attracts people to the Warrior program. "Academics comes first.  I am elated that our team GPA continues to improve each year and having the most Academic All-Conference Team members than any other team in the conference", says Shoffner.  Webber graduated 8 players in May and are looking to graduate 8 more next May.

In 2004 Shoffner was named head men’s basketball coach at Webber International University.  Prior to that Shoffner worked for both the Lake Wales and the Haines City Parks and Recreation Departments, serving as manager of a variety of events and festivities.

In 2002 he returned to Webber to become assistant basketball coach under Thurman Branough.

Shoffner grew up in Miami, Florida and attended Miami Southwest High School and played basketball under Coach Tom Moore.  After relocating to Laredo, Texas he played for the United Longhorns.

Shoffner ended his playing career at Webber (1997-2000) where he also earned his bachelor's degree in Sport and Club Management.

Shoffner resides in Winter Haven with his wife, Yadira and daughters, Shahira and Selenia and son John Gabriel.
