Sports Medicine Information For All Athletes
The primary objective of the Webber International University Sports Medicine Team is the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injury.  Webber’s comprehensive staff of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing a healthy environment for athletic competition.

When a student-athlete is injured, WIU’s Sports Medicine Team works to ensure proper and efficient diagnosis and treatment are performed, as well as making appropriate specialty referrals.  They also communicate directly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and the injured student-athlete to secure a complete and prompt recovery to competition.

In order to facilitate the recovery of injured student-athletes and to promote the wellness of non-injured student-athletes, WIU operates two fully equipped athletic training rooms and has four certified athletic trainers on staff.  Not only does the athletic training staff meet everyday needs of the student-athlete, it also provides in-house rehabilitation to all injured student-athletes.  In addition, the athletic training staff works closely with two outstanding team physicians.  General medical care is handled by Dr. Christopher Mondello, and orthopedic care is covered by Dr. Larry Padgett. These physicians provide comprehensive physicals to all student-athletes before they are allowed to compete.

WIU also serves as a clinical education site for students from Florida Southern College and Florida Gulf Coast University.  Students attending those schools receive hands on experience with sports that are not offered at their respective schools.
