VANCOUVER, Wash. (November 18, 2017) – Junior Sean Trainor showed huge improvement from his first appearance at nationals as he ran a good time of 26:53 to finish in the top 200 runners in the country, 183rd overall, on Saturday at the 62nd Annual NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington.

Trainor's time on Saturday was only 14 seconds away from landing him in the top 150 runners, and was 36 seconds away from a spot in the top 100.

"Sean ran very well today, and had a big improvement over last year's national championship," said Head Cross Country Coach James Simpson. "Sean had a great year and I'm very proud of how much he has progressed, but we still have a lot of work to do."

Trainor, a junior from Orlando, Florida, whose main sport is track, improved upon his time from the 2016 national championship (30:52) by nearly four minutes, and improved his individual finish by over 140 spots as he jumped from 324th a year ago to 183rd in 2017.

Additionally, Trainor's final time on Saturday was only 22 seconds behind his fastest time of the season (26:31), ran at the Sand Shark Invitational on October 21, and was his third fastest time of the year overall.

Next up for Trainor and the rest of the Warriors will be the indoor track and field season in 2018.
