GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Webber International University warriors competed at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational meet this past Saturday in Gainesville. The warriors ran well on the Mark Bostic Golf course. It turned out to be a rather nice morning. The morning started out with a light drizzle and then stayed pretty cool and overcast all morning; A great day for running. "The warrior men and women are running very well. They have been working really hard and its starting to show. I'm really proud to be a Warrior.
The men got things started at 7:55 am and finished the 8K race placing 24rd out of 29 teams. Georgia Tech University won the meet with a score of 58 points. The yellow Jackets were followed by The Gators (70), University of North Florida (83), Embry Riddle University (116), and Florida Southern (127) rounding out the top 5.

Gabriel Barron led the charge finishing 111th overall in a season best 27:12.23 Barron was trailed by teammates; Freshman,
Bryan Tumlin-Smith (174
th/270-28:43.13), Sophomore,
David Wright (186th/270-29:00.66),Freshman,
Marcus Corbett (198th/270-30:04.59), Sophomore,
Victor Karstendiek (243rd/270-33:38.03).
On the girls side Sophomore
Kathi Whitfield Lead the charge with a new personal record (PR) 21:08.27. Whitfield placed 203rd out of 300 runners. Sophomore
Rachel Fredrick was the second warrior to cross the finish line in(263rd /300-25:11.93) . Other finishers were: Freshman,
Marly Joseph (267th /300-25:25:42.26), followed by Senior,
Amanda Stoll (270th /300-28:08.25) which was also a personal Record (PR). "The lady warriors are coming along. As long as we keep working and keep improving every week we are good. If they are running PRs every week how can you complain.
The host school of University of Florida won the women's meet with a team score of 35. Georgia Tech was second with 69, Followed by University of North Florida with 96, and University of Central Florida with 124 points.
The Warriors next meet will be on September 27
th in Daytona Beach at Embry Riddle Classic.
