Babson Park, Fla. - Tyler Auerbacher, an Auburndale High School graduate, will join the Webber International University Men's Basketball team in 2010.

Auerbacher comes to Webber as a transfer from the University of Northern Florida. Combating injury during his freshmen season Auerbacher scored 6 points a game at UNF. He then red-shirted during his Sophomore season. Auerbacher made the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team and Dean's List while attending UNF by maintaining a high grade point average along with upstanding student/athlete virtues.

During his high school career Auerbacher was a standout both on and off the basketball court. He was a three year letterman and co-captain of the AHS squad. He averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in three years of varsity basketball. His efforts earned him First Team Polk County and All-Area selection (as a senior) as well as a nomination as a McDonald's All-American. Auerbacher is the current record holder at AHS for 3-point field goals made in a season (76). He scored in double figures in 32 consecutive games between his Junior and Senior seasons and led Polk County in free throw percentage in those same seasons (86% and 90% respectively). Off the floor, Auerbacher was a member of the National Honor Society, DECA Club, Bloodhound Achievement Recognition Committee, and Senior Executive Board. Auerbacher graduated 7th in the 2008 AHS class with a 4.2 grade point average.

Auerbacher decided to attend Webber International to continue his playing career because it will provide the best academic and athletic fit for him. By signing with Webber Auerbacher returns home to proudly wear a Warrior jersey. Head Coach John Shoffner is excited about adding Tyler Auerbacher to his program. “Tyler is a talented basketball player and smart young man that will be a great help to our team now and in years to come,” Shoffner stated. “I am training as hard as ever because I want to help the team and prove things to myself and others,” stated Auerbacher.

Auerbacher plans to major in Sports Management with intentions of joining the Magic organization or pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors upon graduation from Webber International University.
