Babson Park, Fla. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 80 men's tennis players have been named 2009-2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status.
Webber International University had two players named to the team. Senior Philippe Andermatt, from Switzerland, and junior Rafael Teixeira, from Brazil, were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
“I am always proud of any recognition our student-athletes earn,” stated Athletic Director and Head Tennis Coach,
Bill Heath.
“These two young men fit the mold of the term, student-athlete, as they were the number one and two players on the team and they both were honored by being named to The Sun Conference All-Conference Team and they achieve in the academic arena,” added Heath.
