BABSON PARK, Fla. – Seven members of the Warriors men’s and women’s track and field team qualified for the 59th Annual Men’s and the 30th Annual Women’s Outdoor National Championships, which are being hosted on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana from May 27-29, 2010.
Each team is looking to improve on last year’s performances, where the men finished 38th and the women finished tied for 55th place.
Senior sprinter Sarah Long qualified in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash where she is currently ranked 10th and 8th respectively. Long is the school record holder in both the 100m (12.03) and 200m (24.69).
Junior Juline Brice qualified in both the 1500m run and the 5,000m run, where she is currently ranked 22th and 10th respectively.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team, which is comprised of James Campbell, David Hunter, Steven McGinley and Malcolm Solomon are currently ranked 5th heading into the championships with a time of 41.29 seconds. Hunter also qualified in the 200m dash with a time of 21.69 seconds and is ranked 22nd.
Also competing for the Warriors is Jonathan Mott who qualified in the marathon after a setting a new school record in the half marathon back in February. Mott is ranked 10th heading into the championships.
The men’s 4x100m will start things off for the Warriors as they are schedule to begin competition at 1:20 pm on Thursday.
