BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warriors track & field teams concluded their indoor season this past weekend at the NAIA indoor national championships, which were held in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Freshmen Aubrey Smith led the charge for the Warriors as he broke two school records, while placing 6th in the long jump with a leap of 7.23m (23-08.75) and placing 7th in the triple jump with a leap of 14.75m (48.04.75). With his 6th place finish in the long jump Smith received All-American honors. Smith also hits the record books as the first male Warrior to ever receive All-American honors during an indoor championship.
“Initially the plan was for Aubrey to use the long jump as a nice warm-up for the triple jump, which is his signature event” stated third year head coach Terrell Griffin. “On his second attempt he jumped 7.23m, which is his lifetime best”.
On the women’s side senior All-American Anna Wallace failed to make the finals in the 60m hurdles, after placing 14th  overall with a time of 9.22 seconds. Juline Brice also finished 14th in the mile run as she failed to qualify for the finals after running a time of 5:19.71. Brice also competed in the 1000m run where she finished 15th overall with a time of 3:03.50. Sarah Long rounded out the field for the lady Warriors as she placed 22nd overall in the 60m dash with a time of 7.93 seconds.
The Warriors return to action on March 19-20, 2010, for the Walt Disney World Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
