BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team took two of three from the Tigers of Edward Waters College this weekend in a The Sun Conference match-up.
Friday night's game took four and a half hours and thirteen innings before the Tigers scored three in the thirteenth to win the game 9-6. The Warriors were down early and then tied in the ninth to send the game to extra frames. After Edward Waters scored three, the Warriors could not get anything going.
Saturdays first game was moved up an hour to beat the rain but to no avail. With two outs in the top of the fourth inning, the rain made conditions to dangerous to continue and the game was delayed four and a half hours. Once the rain cleared and play resumed, Webber bats came to life and they opened up a 5-1 lead. The Tigers tried to rally late but couldn't overcome the deficit and Webber won the game     5-3.
Game three of the series put an exclamation point on the weekend for the Warriors as they outlasted the Tigers 13-9 after a back and forth battle. Webber took a commanding lead early in the game but those scrappy group of Tigers kept chipping away and made it a close game at the end.
Picking up the wins for the Warriors on the mound on Saturday were Josh Davis who was one out away from tossing a complete game and Jesse Wiggington who threw five and a third in game two. Carlo Galluccio earned a save in Davis' game.
The Warriors are 9-6 overall and 3-3 in The Sun Conference. Monday Webber takes the field in a double header starting at four and kicks off a week where the Warriors will plat seven times during the week.
