BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team took on the Maple Leafs of Goshen College last night and with the help of two long balls by Randy Hernandez, Webber defeated Goshen 14-4 in eight innings.
Hernandez led the way with his two home runs for the Warriors at the plate going three-for-five with three runs scored and three runs driven in. Shawn Mayhew also had three hits in the contest picking three RBI and two runs scored. Jason Foss and Ryan Regidor both had two hits in the game while Cody Whitlow drove in three.
On the mound for the Warriors, Jesse Wiggington started and went five innings allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out two batters. Mark McLeod then tossed an inning in relief giving up two runs on two hits and struck out one Maple Leaf. Dominic Murray and Ryan Gibbard each came in and threw one inning as Murray struck out the side and Gibbard fanned two and walked a hitter.
The Warriors are now 7-4 on the year and will face Davenport University out of Michigan this Thursday at home with the first pitched to be tossed at 6 pm.
